      Note: this affair is already a "non issue"; Iran will do nothing in retaliation beyond the rather paltry missile strike that (might have) injured up to 11 US military personnel. Iran, including its Supreme Leader, knows full well that a more substantial demonstration of force against the US and/or its allies, e.g., Israel, in the region will be countered with a US air and land strike of IMMENSE ferocity. Consider these elements: (1) 4,800 US elite paratrooper forces (ie, the 82nd Airborne Division) have already been dispatched to Yemen and (2) US policy on the use of "limited, tactical nuclear-armed" cruise missile and similar devices is now an active "strike policy" backed by the US Congress. Thus, the US response to ANY FURTHER ACTION on the part of Persia (ie, Iran) will be met with an asymmetrical response. You ask why, then, has the US been in Afghanistan for more than 20 years if it has such "stopping power" @ its disposal?" The answer is simple: The US Military-Industrial Complex has purposely prolonged the conflict in Afghanistan for two reasons: (1) maintain Taliban existence and potential readiness for action in the former Central Asian Republics of USSR, namely Uzbekistan, Takistan, and Turkmenistan, as a way of keeping "pressure" on Putin's Russia, and (2) be able to maintain a "live laboratory" @ which it can try out "new weapons systems", at the expense (of course) of Afghani military and civilian populations as well as the lives of American military personnel. ¶

      Doesn't sound like an 'enemy' Iran would wish to stir to action to me. Hell, the Russians have to think twice before striking and I GUARANTEE if that day ever arrives, Mutually-Assured Destruction of THE PLANET will follow... so much for all of us waiting around for Climate Change to kill us all, chuckle      .

    • They may be the target.first, it wasn't paltry missile strike. missiles hit the most advanced base of US in the region- the one who recently trump praised its complexity and great expense the US had paid on it- while the US couldn't track even one of the missiles and target it. even Us officials admit it. you can check Fox news. maybe this is why they ordered their vessels not to be near 1000km of borders of Iran. Iran commanders said we got ready 100-300 missiles like that if the US have responded to Us, at first level. The US who claimed if Iran responds to us, we target 52 points in their country-including cultural points- didn't dare to respond. so don't take media so seriously. this is why you shouldn't believe the number of causalities claimed by them.short story, just for your knowledge, the information that local resources in Iraq claimed in first moments of attack was more consistent with what Iran's officials said. including the number of flights toward Ain-al-Asad base for transferring causalities toward Jordan, Israel, Europe, and Kuwait. Iran's officials have said that they didn't want to kill soldiers in the first place, but they claimed at least 80 has died. some Iraqis news said 126 people have died. if Us wanted to be honest it should let reporters go to the base in first days not 3 days after strike! I don't wanna argue about it anymore, but there are so many reasons for the US and especially trump to lie and I don't wanna count it now.¶

      Second, again for your argument about Us military power, I think it's necessary to add to my above statement, that in 2012 in the war simulation that pentagon had programmed it between Iran & Us, in the first day of war, 20 thousand American soldiers will die and many of its army machines will be destroyed. you can search for its details. not talking about how they underestimated Iran in that simulation, -as their self has claimed it- on those days they didn't know that Iran could shut the most complex and strange drone of them-Global Hawk. so they shouldn't be proud of their other air force which is less technological than Global Hawk...¶

      third, for your argument about Us troops in Afghanistan. I disagree with you about Russia. why? look at the map of Us bases in Asia. your answer is there. they are all around Iran, not Russa!¶

      finally IRAN never wished stir action or a war, especially a war that effects whole the world! just consider 300 dollars per oil barrels, whole the economy of the world will collapse! I don't wanna talk about other side-effects of war in Persian-Gulf. Iran has civilized people with 2500 policies and with religious beliefs that resist it to start a war, against what emperor of lier in media tries to mislead the world and show dictatorships and terrorist countries, peaceful countries, and democratic and antiterrorist countries, regimes which must be changed. of course. no expectation of them who are silent about half a million people who have died by American and french weapons in Yaman, but react seriously to a few missiles which strike to oil installation of Saudi Arabia!¶
