Cover letter
- I am writing in response to an advertisement on the official site of White&Case for a trainee position (summer trainee program).
- I am a fourth-year student of Lomonosov Moscow State University; my average grade is A (5.00).
- The main reason why I would like to apply for the summer program is that I want to get an opportunity to work for 2 months with highly qualified and professional lawyers about whom I hear very often on my classes and who became my role models in a career.
- Since the first year of university, the idea of internship in White&Case seemed me very tempting but challenging.
- In my understanding, hard knowledge of the law and fluent English it is not enough to be a perfect White&Case intern.
- There are should be some qualities indicating a good lawyer such as passion in the future profession, high motivation, ability to overcome deadline stress and deal with people (from clients to colleagues).
- Without false modesty, I can say that I tried to develop my hard skills but never forget about soft skills either.
- That's why I think it is a perfect time to demonstrate them in practice.
- Another reason for applying for the summer program is that I want to get with real client projects.
- In university, you study on theoretical models and tasks from the textbook.
- These tasks can be really complicated, but they do not reflect the challenges of real jurisprudence.
- In order to be a competitive lawyer, you need to be as savvy at theoretical conceptions as practically oriented.
- My current professional interests center around civil law, international commercial arbitration, and civil procedure.
- That's why I would like to try my hand at practices of International Arbitration and International Trade.
- I feel that I could be a valuable asset to the White&Case team, and I bring all of the skills to the table that you require in a trainee.
- For further evidence of my qualifications for this position, please review the enclosed résumé.
