The present researcher examined four factors which impacted on the intention of foreign tourists to visit Russia after FIFA 2018, and those factors were included demographic profile, costs, visitor services, political situation, and affective image.
Primary data refers to data that is directly collected by researchers during the study.
The target population for this current study constituted all adults who are living outside Russia, who have visited Moscow at least once as international tourists in order to attend a mass sport event, and whose age started from 16 years old and up.
Over recent years in Russia, active scientific studies have been under way focused on rethinking the phenomenon of tourism in modern society, on studying it as the aggregate activity performed across multiple sectors of economy, on justifying systematic approach to its planning.
Considerable share of solid land with very diverse landscapes is located in this country.
There are unique natural objects (the lake Baikal, Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka Peninsula, Siberian boreal forest, etc.) and numerous historical and architectural landmarks in its territory, that includes parts of Europe and Asia.
There is a well-developed international transportation network, though hotel sector and internal transport need be reconstructed and upgraded.
Specialists note that, despite the growth of inbound tourism, Russia’s tourist income is significantly lower than in other countries, showing similar growth of inbound tourism.

According to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the share of tourism in the global GDP, taking into account the multiplicative effect, makes 9.4%.
According to the data of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, the share of revenues from tourism in GDP in different countries amounts to figures as following: Greece - 15.5%, Spain - 15.3%, Austria - 12.5%, whereas in Russia this figure makes just 6.5%

The beginning of 2014 was marked by events that irreversibly changed the state of affairs in the Russian economy.
The first and main stage was the events in Ukraine, which followed immediately after the end of the so brightly held Olympic Games in Sochi.
By themselves, these games were the strongest impetus to the development of both domestic tourism proper and the popularization of Russia and Russian resorts among foreigners.
However, Ukrainian events, including the annexation of Crimea to Russia and economic sanctions against Russia, on the one hand, added another extremely popular now internal direction - the Crimean peninsula, on the other hand, sharply reduced the demand for travel.
The Russian tourism industry has an inefficient advertising system.
Thus, the most effective way is to serve as a mega-sport event.
Mega-sport events are prestigious competitions in which the best teams of the world take part.
Currently, the Olympic Games, both summer and winter, as well as world championships in football and hockey are the largest sporting events, so they occupy an important place in international tourism.
