  • Zoo

    • A committee of the Lisbon Zoo plans to increase the number of animals in danger of extinction Last week, the Zoo has obtained confirmation of the arrival of a couple of red pandas from China, and two couples of Peru monkeys.
  • All these animals are provided for free by their countries of origin.
    • The administration of the Zoo are getting ready to receive them by planting bamboos, staple panda’s food, in part of the green zone, since it is important that they feel comfortable from the arrival day.
  • But the Zoo is going to suffer some other alterations therein, including the refurbishment of all the areas where there are animals behind the high bars that separate the animals from visitors.
    • It is likely that more private zones for the animals will be created and that the security will be more.
  • Recently a giraffe and a black rhino died due to the ingestion of plastic bags provided by the visitors.
  • The Zoo administrator said that the work which will take place (without the closure of the garden) result from the need to transform the space into a preservation site, trying to reproduce with maximum fidelity natural environments.
