The WOMAD festival
- Dear Mary, Great to hear from you.
- I hope you are fine.
- I have an exciting news to share with you.
- This summer was very eventful for me.
- At first, I have improve my English by visiting the linguistic camp.
- It was very interesting.
- Secondly, I have visited my granny, who lives in Moscow.
- But the most important thing is that I was lucky enough to be invited to the WOMAD festival, which took place in Bristol Zoo in the UK.
- The opening of the fest was held on 22-nd of July.
- I went there with my best friend Natasha and with her father.
- I must say that it was a great opportunity to listen to talented singers and musicians as well as broaden my horizon.
- We arrived to London on 21-st of July in the morning and spent some time there, enjoying the local sights.
- After that we took a train to Bristol.
- As we drifted away from London the weather has changed and fine rain has begun.
- But still the weather was nice.
- It was a warm summer day and the light summer brezze was blewing.
- There were a lot of people in front of the zoo and in zoo itself.
- Music lovers from all over the globe have come to enjoy the atmosphere of brotherhood.
- It was really interesting to watch how people from different countries exchanging an impressions and their musical experience, swapping stories and just having a good time together.
- There were many workshops, where children and adults learned songs and dances of different nations of the world.
- There were also a lot of stalls, selling hand-crafted souvenirs and other goods.
- But the most memorable event was the concert itself.
- Musicians played music of different genres: soul, jazz, rock, funk and so on.
- I liked the band of folk-rockers from Belgium.
- They made an exiting performance.
- When we left the WOMAD festival I felt sad, but, at the same time, it was wonderfull to take part in such a unique occasion, to understand cultures of other countries, through the enjoyment of music.
- So, I got many wonderfull memories, that I'll cherish forever.
- Write back soon.
- Best of Luck, Margaret.
