• Every morning Milton Petrie came out from his New York flat and bought a newspaper from a rugged old man on the street corner.

• Petrie found that he had been very sick and been in a hospital.

• He immediately paid his bill and later when the old man died paid for his funeral.

• Old man was one of many people whom Milton Petrie helped with his money.

• Whenever he read from newspapers about personal disasters, Petrie sent generous cheques, especially to families of policemen and firemen , injured at work.

• He also sent cheque to a mother who lost her five children in a fire , and to beautiful model whose face was cut in a knife attack.
