Uniform rating system of films
- We would like to present the project «Uniform rating system of films».
- The rating system is necessary for restriction of audience of the films.
- Traditional rating systems include restrictions on age.
- They are used to help parents decide what films are appropriate for their children.
- In addition our universal rating system estimates contents of the film.
- So each film has two assessments.
- As all of you understood, our system is uniform for all countries therefore films are classified by committee of the best critics from all over the world.
- Classification depending on age of the viewer: This classification is used to help parents decide what films are appropriate for their children.
- It has 4 categories: 1.
- AG (all ages) - viewing of the film is available to people of all age.
- There is no nudity, sex, violence, offensive language.
- (majority of animated cartoons) 2.
- R13 (restriction, no one under 13) - viewing is available only to the audience who has reached 13.
- There is may be unrespectful language, violence, some indication of sensuality, but no sex on the screen.
- (Forrest Gump, The Lord of the Rings) 3.
- R16 (restriction, no one under 16) - viewing is available only to the audience who has reached 16.
- The language may be rough, some nudity and lovemaking may be present, a lot of violence.
- Audience under 16 can be allowed to viewing, but only accompanied by parents.
- (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) 4.
- FA (full age) - viewing of the film is available to people over 18.
- Such films can have brutal or sexually connected language or sex and too much violence.
- (9½ Weeks, Knights of the Sky) Cashiers and ticket inspectors of cinema are responsible for the admission to the film of people of a certain age.
- Classification depending of the contents of the film: If the first classification helps parents to protect their children from inadmissible violence scenes, sex and other, the second classification helps the viewer the movie most suitable for.
- Depending on the contents the movie receives a certain quantity of stars that helps us to make a right choice.
- 1 star means that films have a really primitive plot, they don’t have a good cast, and usually such films aren't successful in world rolling.
- (For example Pledge This!) Film gets 2 stars if it has dynamic history, some popular actors in a cast, and if the previous parts were popular with the audience.
- As a rule it is the horror films, some action films and melodramas (Paranormal Activity) 3 or 4 stars mean that film have aexciting, worthy plot and a professional cast.
- They are full of special effects, grab attention of the viewer, teach the viewers to something (to believe in love, justice, good and other).
- Such films are successful in world rolling.
- (Inception, Law Abiding Citizen, The Butterfly Effect) 5 stars: most often receive very difficult films, which make the deep sense, have an ideal cast, and also the authoring movies represented on film festivals.
- These films are popular with the audience within many decades.
- (Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, Scent of a Woman) Our classification helps the viewer to enjoy the film, and also not to waste time and money.
