    • Insufficient respect to older people

  • Throughout this century the role of elderly people has changed enormously.
    • Parents have become heaviness for their children who do not respect older generation, abuse them and do not take care of them.
  • According to surveys, the number of old people who live in elderly homes rose significantly during the last 3 decades.
    • This example shows that old people are considered as useless members of society and families.
    • Possibly, the main reason of insufficient respect to older people is modern life style that affects relations between people.
    • Nowadays, young couples prefer to live apart from their parents, they don`t accept the interference into their private lives.
    • Needless to say, different generations have different mentality.
    • Due to distinct points of view, young people consider their parents "old-fashioned".
    • Furthermore, old people tend to hold the lifestyle of the past what leads to misunderstanding between children and parents.
    • Another thing that should be mentioned is modern pace of life.
    • Working people are too busy at work and don`t have enough time to dedicate it to their parents.
    • It is a well-known fact that as rarer the communication as weaker the connection between people.
    • Children and parents who meet each other once a week don`t have common interests and topics for conversation, they aren`t aware of each other`s lives and problems.
    • Certainly, this modern trend has negative effect on society in general.
    • Young people lose the sense of community and forget about the value of family, they become more cynic and selfish.
    • In conclusion, I would say that the sense of community which is taken from families is the most crucial factor of social development.
    • Only communities could cope with wars and disasters throughout centuries.
    • And the loss of the value of community can cause more terrible problems in future.
