Some Avar phrases and information on the language are located here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avar_language
There are nine phrases so that is a long way from Fluent Avar!!!
There is also no guide that I could locate as to vocal pronunciation.
"We" are geussing at this point. When I get to Tbilisi I will see if
I can find a pronunciation/vocal/sound tape/C.D./DVD guide. It
will be hard, but might become easier once I find my way around
Tbilisi. It would be easier to find this in Mahachkala but it would
be dangerous to go there even if you had a $billion and an army
of armed guards. This is also quite a few videos of Avar songs
on YouTube.com . These include
Али Халаев и Лаура Алиева ( = Ali Xalayev and Laura Aliyeva )
to name only two out of many. One can get a feeling for the language
from these, but that is not satisfactory. It is necessary to understand
the words being sung. I would say these people, Avar and
Dargwa desire to be on their own and have an independent
Dagestan, free from Russian Federation control. There is
a definite feeling of Intrigue here.
