Gage, mettre en gage
Objet de valeur remis pour garantir le paiement d'une dette = Valuable object given to guarantee the payment of a debt
- Ex: Mettre sa montre en gage = pawn your watch
In France, the Paris municipal credits, populary called "Ma Tante", lends money against the remittence of a Valuable object.
When the borrower has repaid, the object is returned to him, for a commission.

Le gage, c'est l'action ou la pénitence que le joueur perdant doit exécuter.
The pledge is the action or penance that the losing player must perform.
- Ex: "Tu as perdu! je te mets un gage / je te donne un gage" = "You lost! I give you a pledge"
