In this lesson, we will learn about the fruits vocabulary in Panjabi. You will learn how to name fruits in Panjabi, their pronunciation, and how to use these words in context.

  • Person 1: ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੇਬ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। (I want to eat an apple.)
  • Person 2: ਸੇਬ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ। (The apple has been cut.)
  • Person 1: ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੇਲਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। (I want to eat a banana.)
  • Person 2: ਕੇਲਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੀਠਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (Banana is very sweet.)

Interesting Facts[edit | edit source]

Did you know that Punjab is the largest producer of Kinnow (a hybrid variety of mandarin orange) in the world? The cultivation of Kinnow started in the 1930s in Punjab.

Also, did you know that in Panjabi, tomato is pronounced as tamaatar, which is similar to the Hindi and Urdu pronunciation?
