German educational systems is mainly divided into 3 parts:

  • Elementary School ("Grundschule")
  • High School
  • Higher Education

Since Germany is a federal organised state, there are differences between the school systems in different states.

For example, school in Saxony can be pretty different from school in Bavaria.

For example in Saxony, there is no single High School but depending on your grades in Grade 4, you go either to the "Gymnasium", the "Oberschule" or the "Hauptschule".

Elementary school

Elementary School, which is called "Grundschule" in Germany, goes from Grade 1 up to Grade 4. Every students attends Elementary School where you learn the basics of Maths, German language as well as English and some other minor subjects.
