Major Landmarks in Israel

Here are some of the most popular landmarks in Israel:

Jerusalem Old City Walls

The Old City Walls of Jerusalem surround the Old City of Jerusalem and were built in the 16th century by the Ottoman Empire. They are almost two and a half miles long and have eight gates. The walls are significant both historically and religiously, as they have protected the city from religious and political conflicts.

Masada National Park

Masada National Park is located in the heart of the Judean Desert and is home to an ancient fortress built by Herod the Great. The fortress was later used as a refuge for Jewish rebels in the Jewish-Roman wars, where they held out against Roman forces for several months before ultimately committing suicide. Today, the site is a popular tourist attraction that offers breathtaking views of the Dead Sea area.

Also known as the Wailing Wall, the Western Wall is located in the Old City of Jerusalem and is one of the holiest sites in Judaism. It is a remnant of the ancient wall that surrounded the Jewish Temple's courtyard and is significant as a place for Jewish prayer and pilgrimage.
