The verb "be" is used to describe a state or condition. It is an important verb in Nepali (individual language) and is used in many different ways. In this lesson, we will look at the different forms of the verb and how to use them in sentences.
The verb "be" has three forms in Nepali (individual language): हो (ho), होनु (honu), and होउ (hou). The form हो (ho) is used when the subject of the sentence is singular. The form होनु (honu) is used when the subject of the sentence is plural. The form होउ (hou) is used when the subject of the sentence is in the third person singular.
The verb "be" can be used in many different ways in Nepali (individual language). Here are some examples:
- To describe a state or condition:
- म सुक्छो छु (Ma sukchho chhu) - I am happy.
- तिमी सुक्छो हो (Timi sukchho ho) - You are happy.
- उहाँ सुक्छो होनु (Uhaan sukchho honu) - They are happy.
- To describe a location:
- म यहाँ छु (Ma yahaan chhu) - I am here.
- तिमी वहाँ हो (Timi vahaan ho) - You are there.
- उहाँ तिर होउ (Uhaan tir hou) - He is over there.
- To describe an action:
- म गाउँछु (Ma gaaunchhu) - I am singing.
- तिमी गाउँछो हो (Timi gaaunchho ho) - You are singing.
- उहाँ गाउँछो होनु (Uhaan gaaunchho honu) - They are singing.
We can also use the verb "be" in conversation. Here is an example of a conversation using the verb "be":
- Person 1: तिमी कहाँ हो? (Timi kahaan ho?) - Where are you?
- Person 2: म यहाँ छु (Ma yahaan chhu) - I am here.
