Forming the Future Tense

The future tense in Tigrinya is formed by adding the suffix -ንም (-nem) to the verb stem. This suffix is added to the verb stem regardless of the person or number of the subject.

For example, the verb እዩ (eyu) means "to come". To form the future tense, the suffix -ንም (-nem) is added to the verb stem እዩ (eyu):

• እዩንም (eyunem) - "I will come"
• እዩንም (eyunem) - "you will come"
• እዩንም (eyunem) - "he/she will come"
• እዩንም (eyunem) - "we will come"
• እዩንም (eyunem) - "they will come"

Examples

Here are some examples of the future tense in Tigrinya:
