Tigrinya Grammar - Future Tense

Hi Tigrinya learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Tigrinya. We will look at how to form the future tense, as well as some examples of its use. Let's get started!

Forming the Future Tense

The future tense in Tigrinya is formed by adding the suffix -αŠ•αˆ (-nem) to the verb stem. This suffix is added to the verb stem regardless of the person or number of the subject.

For example, the verb αŠ₯α‹© (eyu) means "to come". To form the future tense, the suffix -αŠ•αˆ (-nem) is added to the verb stem αŠ₯α‹© (eyu):

  • αŠ₯α‹©αŠ•αˆ (eyunem) - "I will come"
  • αŠ₯α‹©αŠ•αˆ (eyunem) - "you will come"
  • αŠ₯α‹©αŠ•αˆ (eyunem) - "he/she will come"
  • αŠ₯α‹©αŠ•αˆ (eyunem) - "we will come"
  • αŠ₯α‹©αŠ•αˆ (eyunem) - "they will come"
