Language/Georgian/Grammar/Gender
Hi Georgian learners! ๐
In this lesson, we will learn about the gender rules in Georgian. We will look at the different genders and how to identify them. We will also look at some examples and practice using the gender rules. Finally, we will have a quiz to test your understanding.
Rules
In Georgian, there are three genders: masculine, feminine, and neuter. The gender of a noun is usually determined by its ending.
Masculine nouns usually end in -แ or -แ. For example, แแแแ (mama) is masculine, แแแแ (dada) is masculine, and แกแแฎแแ (sakhli) is masculine.
Feminine nouns usually end in -แ or -แ. For example, แแแแ (mama) is feminine, แแแแ (dada) is feminine, and แกแแฎแแ (sakhli) is feminine.
Neuter nouns usually end in -แ or -แ. For example, แแแแ (mama) is neuter, แแแแ (dada) is neuter, and แกแแฎแแ (sakhli) is neuter.
There are some exceptions to these rules. For example, some nouns that end in -แ can be either masculine or feminine.
