Some open world games depict places in real life. It's much more convenient than creating fictional settings because no one can call them “inaccurate”. Players love being able to move around in real-life settings.

There are more and more scandals in the gaming industry, including integrating spyware in the game. Always keep your eyes open.

Main

Grand Theft Auto

Locations:

GTAIII is the originator of the current open world concept. 7 years later, the legendary GTAIV was born, and 5 years later, another miracle, GTAV.

In this franchise, you play as some bad guys. You can enjoy the story lines as well as exploring the cities.

Red Dead Redemption

Location: American frontier (1, 2)

There are several great Western movies, but only one great Western game franchise.

Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku)

Locations:

You can play as a gangster in Yakuza. Of course not the whole Tokyo, Tokyo is too big.

Sleeping Dogs

Location: Hong Kong

It was originally “True Crime: Hong Kong” and thankfully it is not another True Crime game.

In this game, you play as an undercover police officer.

Watch Dogs

Locations:

You play as a hacker and have free access to all kinds of electrical devices in a “smart city”.

Marvel's Spider-Man

Location: Manhattan, New York City (Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales)

Play as the Spider-Man. You can also take the subway.

Assassin's Creed

Locations:

This is an era-crossing action game franchise, with impressive adventure and bug fix patches.

L.A. Noire

Location: Los Angeles

It is in 1947. You play as a police officer, a detective.

Mafia

Location: Chicago (I, II)

You play as a gangster. Its map actually resembles the New York City's.

Mafia III is also in the same place. Its score is lower than 75, so it's not mentioned above.

Ghost of Tsushima

Location: Tsushima

It is about historical Mongol invasions of Japan.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Location: Kingdom of Bohemia

It is historically accurate, so accurate that some people can't accept. Criticism includes not portraying non-white people and other political correctness bullshit.
