Language/Lao/Grammar/Future-Tense
Hi Lao learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Lao. We will look at how to form sentences in the future tense and how to use them in conversation.
The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. In Lao, the future tense is formed by adding the particle ແລ້ວ (laew) to the end of a sentence. For example:
- ຂ້ອຍຈະກິນຂໍ້ມູນແລ້ວ (Khoi ja kin khomuen laew) - I will eat dinner.
- ພວກເຮົາຈະໄປຊິມຊົນແລ້ວ (Phuak hao ja bpai simson laew) - We will go out together.
It is important to note that the future tense is not used to talk about habits or routines. For example, if you want to say "I usually eat dinner at 7pm", you would not use the future tense. Instead, you would use the present tense.
