Tajik Grammar - Adjectives

Hi Tajik learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing adjectives in Tajik. Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns and pronouns. They can be used to give more information about the noun or pronoun they are modifying. In Tajik, adjectives have a few different forms depending on the gender and number of the noun or pronoun they are modifying.

Masculine Singular

When an adjective is modifying a masculine singular noun or pronoun, it takes the form of the masculine singular. For example:

  • калон - tall (masculine singular)
  • дур - long (masculine singular)

Examples

  • Ман калон аст. - I am tall.
  • Он дур аст. - He is long.

Feminine Singular

When an adjective is modifying a feminine singular noun or pronoun, it takes the form of the feminine singular. For example:

  • калона - tall (feminine singular)
  • дура - long (feminine singular)

Examples

  • Ман калона аст. - I am tall.
  • Она дура аст. - She is long.

Masculine Plural

When an adjective is modifying a masculine plural noun or pronoun, it takes the form of the masculine plural. For example:

  • калонҳо - tall (masculine plural)
  • дурҳо - long (masculine plural)

Examples

  • Ман калонҳо аст. - We are tall.
  • Онҳо дурҳо аст. - They are long.

Feminine Plural

When an adjective is modifying a feminine plural noun or pronoun, it takes the form of the feminine plural. For example:

  • калонаҳо - tall (feminine plural)
  • дураҳо - long (feminine plural)

Examples

  • Ман калонаҳо аст. - We are tall.
  • Онаҳо дураҳо аст. - They are long.
