Hello again everyone!

I am MJ Mahdizadeh and now we have a new lesson on Farsi.
Persian is an Indo-European language, therefore from the same family as most European languages (including French). Arabic is a Semitic language, from the same family as Hebrew, Aramaic and Amharic (Ethiopia).

Most people around the world think that Farsi and Arabic are not really different. This is one of the big common mistakes in learning about Iran and our language, Farsi.
However Persian has been adopting a large number of loanwords from Arabic.

Although Arabic and Farsi have many different things, I consider the difference in pronunciation as the most important difference between two languages.
We can compare the situation to English, which has adopted a large number of French words, while remaining a Germanic language.

First there are some Farsi alphabets that do not exist Arabic.
Note that modern Persian is written in the Arabic alphabet, with a few small adaptations.

*They are: گ-چ-پ-ژ.

Second, each letter of Arabic alphabet has its own pronunciation but Farsi is not like that. In Farsi you have some alphabet letters that share the common pronunciation.
*Look at these: ذ-ز-ظ-ض

These letters have different and specific pronunciation of their own in Arabic. But in Farsi there are all like each other in speaking, like ز (z in English).

*We can also see the same thing about these ones: ث-س-ص

*And also this letters: ت-ط
in Arabic the pronunciation of ط is more harder than ت. but in Farsi we pronunce same both of them. Exactly like T in TIME!

So I hope you can focus on differences between two languages when you are learning them.

Good luck.
