Giving Your Opinion[edit | edit source]

Giving your opinion is a great way to express your thoughts and ideas. It shows that you are interested in the topic and that you have something to say about it. In Urdu, there are different ways of giving your opinion. Let's take a look at some examples:

Urdu Pronunciation English
میرا خیال ہے کہ "Mera khiyal hai ke" "In my opinion"
مجھے لگتا ہے کہ "Mujhe lagta hai ke" "I think that"
بہتر ہوتا اگر "Behtar hota agar" "It would be better if"
مجھے یہ بہت پسند ہے "Mujhe yeh bohat pasand hai" "I like this very much"

Here are some examples of how to use these phrases:

Dialogue:

  • Person 1: میرا خیال ہے کہ مطلب تم نے نہیں سمجھا۔ (Mera khayal hai ke matlab tum ne nahi samjha.)
  • Person 2: جی بلکہ میری نظر میں تو تمہیں بہتر سمجھ آئے ہوں۔ (Ji bilkul, meri nazar mein to tumhein behtar samajh aye ho.)

Translation:

  • Person 1: "In my opinion, you did not understand the meaning."
  • Person 2: "Yes, on the contrary, I think I understood it better."

Dialogue:

  • Person 1: بہتر ہوتا اگر آپ ثابت کر پاتے کہ آپ کی بات ٹھیک ہے۔ (Behtar hota agar aap sabit kar patay ke aap ki baat theek hai.)
  • Person 2: جی حق، بےشک میں اس بارے میں آپ کے ساتھ رائے رکھتا ہوں. (Ji haq, beshak mein is baray mein aap ke sath raay rakhta hun.)

Translation:

  • Person 1: "It would be better if you could prove that your point is correct."
  • Person 2: "Yes, absolutely. I agree with you on this."

Exercise[edit | edit source]

Now, let's practice what we've learned so far. Complete the following sentences with the correct Urdu expression:

1. ____________ مجھے یہ بہت پسند ہے۔ [Behtar hota agar / Mera khayal hai ke / Mujhe lagta hai ke] 2. ____________ میری نظر میں اس کتاب کی کوئی اہمیت نہیں ہے۔ [Behtar hota agar / Mera khayal hai ke / Mujhe lagta hai ke] 3. ____________ بتائیے، آپ کیا سوچتے ہیں؟ [Behtar hota agar / Mera khayal hai ke / Mujhe lagta hai ke] 4. ____________ میں نے اس پر لمحہ زیادہ نہیں لگایا۔ [Behtar hota agar / Mera khayal hai ke / Mujhe lagta hai ke]

Answer key: 1. Mujhe yeh bohat pasand hai. 2. Merey nazar mein is kitab ki koi ahmiyat nahi hai. 3. Batayen, aap kya sochte hain? 4. Main ne is par lamha zyada nahi lagaya.
