All nouns have a gender[edit | edit source]

In the Bulgarian language all nouns have a grammatical gender – masculine, feminine or neuter. It is usually indicated by the ending of the word.

Ending for masculine nouns[edit | edit source]

The typical ending for masculine nouns is a consonant or -Й. Exceptions: There are some masculine nouns ending in a vowel: баща, чичо, дядо.
