Personal Pronouns in Armenian
In Armenian not only nouns, but also pronouns and verbs can be put into different cases. We already know the personal pronouns։ ես, դու, նա, մենք, դուք, նրանք. As an example lets take the personal pronoun “ես”to see how it changes in the seven cases which we are already familiar with.
Case | Example | |
---|---|---|
Nominative | I am Zaven. | Ես Զավենն եմ։ |
Genitive | My name is Zaven | Իմ անունը Զավեն է։ |
Dative | You give me the cup. | Դու բաժակը տալիս ես ինձ։ |
Accusative | You know me. | Դու գիտես ինձ։ |
Ablative | Are you getting sick of me? | Դու ձանձրանու՞մ ես ինձանից։ |
Instrumental | Are you interested in me? | Դու հետաքրքրվա՞ծ ես ինձանով։ |
Locative | In me, there is hope. | Ինձանում հույս կա։ |
The following table illustrates the declension of all the personal pronouns:
