* '''TURKISH CINEMA''': Turkish cinema or Turkish cinema (formerly known as Yeşilçam) encompasses the activities of the film industry and cinema culture in Turkey. The history of cinema in Turkey dates back to the times of the Ottoman Empire. In 914, it was decided to demolish the Ayastefanos Russian Monument, which is located near present-day Yeşilköy in Istanbul, and the idea to shoot it into a film arose. With this idea, a film crew from Austria was invited and then the condition was put forward for a Turkish person to shoot this film. Fuat Uzkınay, who was in charge of the Ottoman army at that time, was deemed suitable for this job and Fuat Uzkınay was taught how to shoot the film by the Austrian film crew. The movie The Fall of the Russian Monument in San Stefano was the first movie shot by a Turk.[5] After this development, in line with Enver Pasha's directives, the Central Army Cinema Department was established in 1915, inspired by the "Ordu Cinema Branch" in Germany, and this institution became the first official cinema institution in the history of Ottoman Empire and Turkish cinema. | |||
