In Vietnam, it is common to say goodbye with a handshake or a hug. It is also common to say goodbye with a bow. When saying goodbye to someone older than you, it is polite to bow slightly.

When saying goodbye to someone younger than you, it is polite to put your hands together in a prayer-like gesture and bow slightly. This gesture is called a "namaste".
