  • Most Vietnamese names are unisex. Thus, the prefixes văn, meaning “scholar” (man of), and thị, meaning "woman of", are often employed to distinguish the sexes. However, nowadays, young Vietnamese prefer less traditional middle names.
  • Also, Vietnamese women don’t change their last names after marriage.
