Hi Telugu learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about Telugu vocabulary related to fruits. Knowing the names of fruits in Telugu will be useful when you go to a local market in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. You will also impress the locals with your knowledge of Telugu language.

Here's an example dialogue where you can see how to use fruits vocabulary in sentences.

  • Person 1: వాక్ నెల్లి పండు ఇచ్చండి. (Vāk nellipandu icchaṇḍi) (Give me a wood apple)
  • Person 2: బంగాళాదిపండును నాకు ఇవ్వండి. (Baṅgāḷādipaṇḍu nu nāku ivvaṇḍi) (Give me a Bengal gooseberry)

Interesting Facts about Fruits[edit | edit source]

- Mango is the national fruit of India. It is mainly grown in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. - Jackfruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world, with some specimens weighing over 100 pounds. It is the state fruit of Kerala. - Pineapple is native to Brazil and Paraguay, but it got its name because it looked similar to pine cones. - Watermelon is not just a fruit, but also a vegetable related to cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash. - Bananas grow on plants that are officially considered a type of herb, and the banana itself is technically a berry! It is widely grown in southern India.
