At the beginning of your academic life, you might be attending Swahili (individual language) primary and secondary schools, which are commonly known as shule ya msingi and shule ya upili respectively. Below are some common words and phrases that you might hear in primary and secondary schools.

When you attend university, you will come across many new words and phrases, and you will also need to know how to communicate with professors, classmates, and the administration. Below are some common words and phrases that you might hear in universities.
