Estonia has a well-developed education system with a comprehensive network of schools, universities, and vocational education and training institutions. The government ensures free basic and secondary education for all children, and higher education is also subsidized by the state. Estonian is the language of instruction in most schools and universities.

- Estonia ranks highly in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) ranking, which measures the performance of 15-year-olds in reading, mathematics, and science. In the 2018 ranking, Estonia placed 5th in reading and 1st in digital literacy. - Estonian schools have integrated technology into their teaching methods, with digital classrooms and online textbooks being the norm. - The University of Tartu, founded in 1632, is the oldest and largest university in Estonia. It is also one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe.
