Southern Uzbek Vocabulary - Feelings and Emotions

In this lesson, we will focus on Feelings and Emotions. Understanding and being able to express your emotions and feelings is essential for effective communication in any language. So let's get started!

Basic Emotions[edit | edit source]

In Southern Uzbek, just like in any other language, there are many words to express different emotions. Here are some basic emotions that will help you express yourself:

Narsa yo'q !! [nærsæ jʊʔ] Nothing Nothing
Ishonchsizlik !! [iʃontʃsizlik] Insecurity Insecurity
Joʻy !! [dʒʊʔ] Joy Joy
Qiziqarli !! [qiziqærlɪ] Curious Curious

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • Person 1: Narsa yo'q. (Nothing)
  • Person 2: Nima boʻldi? (What happened?)
  • Person 1: Hech narsa. Faqat yolgʻizman. (Nothing. I'm just lonely.)
  • Person 1: Men ishonchsizman. (I'm insecure.)
  • Person 2: Nega? (Why?)
  • Person 1: Kelajakka qarshi qo'rqaman. (I'm scared of the future.)
  • Person 1: Joʻyliyman! (I'm joyful!)
  • Person 2: Kim yaxshi xabarga? (Who's in a good mood?)
  • Person 1: Hayot. (Life is good.)
  • Person 1: Qiziqarli bo'ldim. (I'm curious.)
  • Person 2: Nima haqida qiziqib turasiz? (What are you curious about?)
  • Person 1: Yagona yirtqinga qanday qilib tayyor bo'lishni xoxlayman. (I want to know how to prepare for a solo trip.)

Advanced Emotions[edit | edit source]

Moving on to more complex emotions, here are some advanced words you can use to express how you feel:

Notogʻri !! [nɒtɒɣ'ɾɪ] Unjust Unjust
Royxatdan chiqqan !! [rojχætdæn tʃiqqæn] Disappointed Disappointed
Tashvishli !! [tæʃvɪʃlɪ] Worried Worried

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • Person 1: Men omadli boʻlgandman. (I was successful.)
  • Person 2: Qanday muvafaqqiyatga erishdingiz? (How did you achieve success?)
  • Person 1: Sabr va xursandlik bilan. (With patience and happiness.)
  • Person 1: Mag'rur odamni ko'rish juda qiyin. (It's hard to deal with an arrogant person.)
  • Person 2: Nega shikoyat etasiz? (What's the problem?)
  • Person 1: U hayron bo'lishi kerak, lekin sariyadagi shaxslarning ularni aks ettirishi juda yomon. (They should be humble, but those in power often set a bad example.)
  • Person 1: Barcha ishlar notogʻri javobni bergan. (Everything is unjust.)
  • Person 2: Nima boʻldi? (What happened?)
  • Person 1: Men yillar davomida yaxshilikni yakka qilganman, ammo shunchaki shirin tagidan bir zilzila... (I've been doing good for years, but then a small earthquake shook things up...)
  • Person 1: Men hamroyim boʻldim. (I'm disappointed.)
  • Person 2: Nimaga? (Why?)
  • Person 1: Men kutishim tugadi, ammo undan hech narsa eng katta umidimizni qondirilmadi. (I waited and waited, but nothing lived up to our expectations.)
  • Person 1: Men tashvishli bo'ldim. (I'm worried.)
  • Person 2: Qanday sabab? (Why?)
  • Person 1: Sogʻligimni saqlashga qodir emasman. (I'm not able to keep my health in check.)
