Southern Kurdish Vocabulary - Education

  • Person 2: زیندوو، بینەر، خاکانیانی، نێریمان (Zindu, Binêr, Khakanyanî and Nêrîman)

In many cultures, obtaining a degree is a significant achievement. Below are the Southern Kurdish words for some common academic degrees:

لایسانس layisans Bachelor's degree
مامۆستا mamosta Master's degree
دکتۆرا doktorâ Doctorate degree

Dialogue:

  • Person 1: دا دایکتۆرا دۆزیتەوە لە پۆلەکەدا؟ (Is that Doctorate degree yours on the wall?)
  • Person 2: بەڕێز، ئەوەش کاری منە واتە (Yes, it's mine.)
  • Person 1: خێرا. ئیا لەگەڵی شانەزادانی ئەو زانکۆیە؟ (Great. Do many students at that university get that degree?)
  • Person 2: نە، بۆ زانیاری زیاتر پەیوەندی بکە بە Southern Kurdish speakers لە Find native speakers، لە ئەوەی کەسانی ئاشنا بە ئەو مەرحەلە هەیەن. (No, for more information, communicate with Southern Kurdish speakers on Find native speakers, as they may know)

Whether you are attending a university, a school or taking online classes, you will need some basic school supplies to help you prepare for your courses. Here are some of the Southern Kurdish words you might need to know:

  • Person 1: خوشناوی زانکۆ نیشانەکراوە لە خۆتۆماری وەزارەتی پارێزەرگە. تەواو کرد ؟ (The school desk was listed in the state department. Do you agree?)
  • Person 2: باشە، دەنگی خۆڕایی کەی. (Yes, it's a great price.)
