Sanaani Arabic Vocabulary - Count to 10

Hi Sanaani Arabic learners! 😊

In this lesson, we will learn how to count to 10 in Sanaani Arabic. Unlike in English, numbers in Arabic are written from right to left. So let's get started!

Here are the numbers from 1 to 10 in Sanaani Arabic, with pronunciation and English translation:

واحِد waahid One
اثنين ithnaan Two
ثلاثة thalaathah Three
أربعة arba'ah Four

سبعة sab'ah Seven

  • Person 2: عمري ثمانية سنوات. (‘Umri thamaaniyah sanawāt.) - I am eight years old.
  • Person 1: كم هي قيمة هذا؟ (Kam hiya qīmatu hādhā?) - What is the value of this?
  • Person 2: هي خمسة ريالات. (Hiya khamsah riyālaat.) - It is five riyals.

- Sanaani Arabic is a dialect of Arabic spoken in Sana'a, the capital city of Yemen. - Arabic is the fifth most spoken language in the world, and it is the official language of 26 countries! - The Arabic language is written from right to left, and is composed of 28 letters.
