In the Arab world, coffee and tea play a crucial role in social and cultural life. Both drinks are essential parts of the hospitality culture in the region, which is why being able to offer a cup of coffee or tea to guests is a sign of respect and generosity. Let's learn some words related to these beverages!

  • Person 1: نعم، أريد عصير برتقال، شكراً. (Yes, I would like orange juice, thank you.)

Hot Beverages[edit | edit source]

During the cold winter months, hot beverages such as sahlab and salep are popular in the Arab world. Both drinks are made with a starchy root called orchid, which is cooked with milk and topped with nuts and cinnamon for added flavor.
