Heading 1: Moroccan School System[edit | edit source]
In Morocco, students attend school for a total of 13 years. The system is divided into three stages:
Heading 2: Primary School (المدرسة الابتدائية)[edit | edit source]
Primary school starts at age 6 and finishes at age 12. During this stage, students learn fundamental subjects such as Arabic, French, mathematics, science, and Islamic studies.
Here are some of the basic vocabulary words you might hear in a Moroccan primary school:

- Teacher: السلام عليكم، يا أطفال! (Assalamu alaykum, ya atfal!) - (Hello, children!)
- Students: وعليكم السلام أستاذ (Wa alaikum assalam, astad) - (Hello, teacher)
- Teacher: كيف حالكم؟ (Kif halukum?) - (How are you?)
- Student 1: بخير، شكرا. (Bekhir, shukran) - (I'm fine, thank you.)
- Student 2: وأنت يا أستاذ؟ (Wa anta ya astad?) - (And you, teacher?)
- Teacher: بخير أيضًا، شكرا (Bekhir aydaan, shukran) - (I'm fine too, thank you.)
Heading 2: Middle School (المدرسة الإعدادية)[edit | edit source]
Middle school starts at age 12 and finishes at age 15. During this stage, students continue to learn the same basic subjects and also start to learn new topics such as technology, history, geography, and art.

- Students: وعليكم السلام أستاذ. (Wa alaikum assalam, astad.) - (Hello, teacher.)
- Teacher: هل فهمتم درس اليوم؟ (Halo fhimtum dars elyom?) - (Did you understand today's lesson?)
- Student 1: نعم. (Na3am.) - (Yes.)
- Student 2: لا، كان صعبا. (Lā, kan ṣaeaaba.) - (No, it was difficult.)
- Teacher: حسنا، سانقوم بشرحه مرة أخرى. (Hsana, sanqum bshrah marat akhira.) - (Okay, I will explain it again.)
Heading 2: High School (المدرسة الثانوية)[edit | edit source]
High school starts at age 15 and finishes at age 18. During this stage, students take specialized courses preparing them for university or vocational training.

- Student 1: نعم، نحن ندرس كثيرا هذه الأيام! (Na3am, nḥan nḍ̣ros katirana hadhih el’ayyām!) - (Yes, we are studying a lot these days!)
- Student 2: حسنا، آمل أن ننجح جميعا! (Hassanän, aamal ’än nanjehou jamięcan!) - (Okay, I hope we all pass!)

Students can attend university after completing high school. Moroccan universities offer many different fields of study, including engineering, law, medicine, and the arts.
