Marathi Grammar - Conditional Mood

In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Marathi grammar. The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an uncertain outcome. It is also used to express a wish or a desire. In this lesson, we will learn how to form sentences in the conditional mood and when to use them.

The conditional mood is formed by using the verb рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди (jaanoon) followed by the verb in its infinitive form. For example, if you want to say "I would go", you would say "рдореА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдЬрд╛рдКрди (mi jaanoon jaaun)".

The conditional mood is formed by using the verb рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди (jaanoon) followed by the verb in its infinitive form. For example, if you want to say "I would go", you would say "рдореА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдЬрд╛рдКрди (mi jaanoon jaaun)".

Positive Sentences[edit | edit source]

To form a positive sentence in the conditional mood, use the following structure:
Subject + рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди + Verb (infinitive form) + Object

For example:
рдореА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдЧрд╛рд╡рд╛рдд рдЬрд╛рдКрди (mi jaanoon gaavat jaaun) - I would go to the village.
рддреБрдЭреНрдпрд╛рд╕ рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдЖрд╣реЗрдд (tujhyaas jaanoon aahet) - You would be there.
рддреНрдпрд╛рдВрдиреА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдХреЗрд▓реЗрд▓реЗ рдЖрд╣реЗ (tyaannee jaanoon kelele aahe) - He/she would have done it.

To form a negative sentence in the conditional mood, use the following structure:
Subject + рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди + рди + Verb (infinitive form) + Object

For example:
рдореА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдЧрд╛рд╡рд╛рдд рди рдЬрд╛рдКрди (mi jaanoon gaavat na jaaun) - I would not go to the village.
рддреБрдЭреНрдпрд╛рд╕ рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рдирд╛рд╣реАрдд (tujhyaas jaanoon naahit) - You would not be there.

рддреНрдпрд╛рдВрдиреА рдЬрд╛рдгреВрди рддреНрдпрд╛рдЪреНрдпрд╛ рдкреБрдвреАрд▓ рд╡рд░реНрд╖реА рдЖрдкрд▓реНрдпрд╛ рдкреНрд░рддреНрдпреЗрдХрд╛рд▓рд╛ рдЖрдард╡рдд рдЕрд╕реЗрд▓ (tyaannee jaanoon tyaachyya pudhil varshii aapalya pratyekaalaa aathvat asel) - He/she would have hugged each of you last year.
