The adverbial case in Georgian

The adverbial case has the marker “-ად”.

Words ending on “-ნ”, “-რ”, “-ლ”, “-მ” with “ო-”, “ა-”, “ე-” vowels in front of them lose these vowels. In other words, the last vowels are missing in words ending on: -ან-, -ენ-, -ონ-, -ამ-, -ემ-, -ომ-, -არ-, -ერ-, -ორ-, -ალ-, -ელ-, -ოლ-.

  • Compare: ბავშვი – ბავშვ-ად and მეგობარი – მეგობრად, სოფელი – სოფლ-ად.
