Central Kurdish Vocabulary - Clothes

In this lesson, we will learn about clothes in Central Kurdish, which is an important topic in everyday conversations.   • Person 1: جاکێت شۆپە بەزم خۆش دەگرێتەوە۔ (caket şope bezm xoş degraded.)
  • Person 2: ئەوە جیاوازەکەیە کە خوشترینی کۆتاییم ئەستێریوە. (Ewe jiawazeke ye ke xoşitreni kotayim esteriwe.)
  • Translation: Person 1: "I really like your jacket at the party." Person 2: "Yes, it's my favorite autumn jacket."
  • Person 1: داشت و داشتی خۆی لەپەرەیەکی شیکی بە پانچی شیکی و چوتکی شیکی. (Dasht o dashti xoî leperayeke šikî be panchî šikî û çotki šikî.)
  • Person 2: خۆشترین کارێک کە دایما بە خۆم دەهێنێ دەرگاێیە. (Xoşetreni karek ke dayma be xom dehenê dergayê.)
  • Translation: Person 1: "She always wears a chic shirt with chic pants and chic shoes." Person 2: "One of my favorite things to do is to dress myself."

Footwear[edit | edit source]

Let's talk about footwear now. Here are some vocabulary words to help you understand shoes and other kinds of footwear in Central Kurdish:

  • Translation: Person 1: "I often use two very stylish boots." Person 2: "No one matches me."
  • Person 1: "دوونفرێكی دۆزی مە هەموو شیكی ئاورەّی تۆپە بە کوتری هیجی قورتی‌یەوە." (Dû nifrêki dozî ma hemû şikî awerêi tope be kotri hiji qortiyeew.)
  • Person 2: "هیندی قورتی هیجی شیکی تۆ به‌ردەست دەکەی بۆ دۆز." (Hendi qorti hiji şikî to berdest dekay be doz.)
  • Translation: Person 1: "Two of us have a pair of stylish top boots and knee highs." Person 2: "Indian Knee Highs are available for you to buy."

Accessories are an important part of a complete outfit. Here are some vocabulary words for you to understand more about accessories in Central Kurdish.

  • Person 2: "زۆر پێشکەش ئەو پەریە و بەرکەدار دەرکەوێتە لەڕێگەكەت." (Zore peşkeş eew perîya û berkedar dergewîte le regakat.)
  • Translation: Person 1: "Can I offer you my scarf? It suits you better." Person 2: "That bracelet and necklace looks very attractive on your neck."

  • Translation: Person 1: "Do you like wearing traditional clothes?" Person 2: "Yes, I am always wearing traditional clothing."
  • Person 1: "ئەو گەیشتەکە چی ئەگەر لەراستگری ناچالاک کرد؟" (Ewe geştêke ke agar lê rastgerî naçalak kird?)
  • Person 2: "ئەو ئایا کەسەًوە بە وەڵامەکانی کۆتاییم دەرخەینەوە." (Ewe aya kesêwe be welamêkanî kotayîm dergexineew.)
  • Translation: Person 1: "What happens if that headscarf is not aligned properly?" Person 2: "Those who read my expressions notice it."
