Welcome to San Antonio, Texas! San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas by population and land area. San Antonio is the oldest city in Texas and celebrates its 300th birthday this year, 2018 (a tricentennial, if you will). San Antonio is home to the five time world champion, San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association.

San Antonio has a strong military presence, earning the name "Military City USA." San Antonio has several other nicknames, including: the "River City" due to our beautiful River Walk; the "Alamo City" due to our well known Spanish Mission and military site; among others. San Antonio is rich in culture and quite unique. In fact, Mark Twain noted more than a century ago that San Antonio is one of only four unique cities in the United States. The other cities were Boston, New Orleans and San Francisco. Twain complained that most American cities were not much different from another.

In recent years, the City and Bexar County jointly extended the famous River Walk from a few miles in downtown San Antonio to upwards of fifteen miles, including: a southward, eight plus mile Mission Reach and several miles north of downtown of increasingly residential and museum sites for the Museum Reach.

San Antonio has so many great things to see and do. Most importantly, San Antonians celebrate Fiesta. Fiesta is a ten day party and tribute to the victory at San Jacinto--ending the Texas Revolution and bringing independence to Texas from Mexico. Fiesta includes numerous parades, parties and other events for people of all ages and interests.

I encourage you to visit our beautiful city. There is no shortage of fun things to see and do.

Viva!
