Join us for an exciting in-person gathering at the World Languages Café!

The World Languages Café is your go-to destination for practicing a language you already know or one you’re currently learning. Engage in lively conversations within a welcoming environment, connect with fellow language enthusiasts, enhance your fluency through speaking and listening exercises, discover practical phrases for your travels, and revisit the language of your childhood.

These vibrant language exchanges take place monthly throughout the year. Mark your calendars for the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7 PM to 9 PM at the 50+ Center of the East Columbia Library, located at 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia. Join any language table that piques your interest—each table is hosted by a native speaker who will guide the conversation. Languages available include American Sign Language, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages, and consider sharing treats from your culture with others at your table.

For additional details, to check if a native speaker will be present for your desired language, to express interest in becoming a native speaker table host, or to be added to the World Languages Café email list, please reach out to vincentvincent profile picture.

If you are a Language Table Host (a native or fluent speaker of a specific language), please confirm your availability to host by contacting vincentvincent profile picture. If you’re new and interested in hosting a table, please specify the language you are fluent in.
