Join us for an exciting in-person language and culture event!

The World Languages Café returns with a unique opportunity to practice the language you're learning or already know. Immerse yourself in a friendly atmosphere, meet fellow language enthusiasts, and explore diverse cultures. Enhance your fluency through engaging conversations and listening exercises, while also learning useful phrases for your future travels and reconnecting with your childhood language.

Our monthly World Language Cafés take place year-round, specifically on the second Thursdays of each month from 7-9pm at the Howard County Library Miller Branch. Discover your preferred language table led by native speakers who will guide and facilitate the conversations. We offer a wide range of languages to choose from, including American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese - Mandarin, Chinese - Cantonese, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

If you're bringing children under the age of 13, please ensure they are accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring your own food and beverages, and don't hesitate to share treats from your culture with your language table.

For more information, to check if a native speaker of your desired language will be present, to become a language table host, or to request inclusion in our World Languages Café email group, please reach out to Junji Akashi at 240-544-7230 or vincentvincent profile picture.

If you're a Language Table Host (native or fluent speaker), kindly inform us of your availability by sending an email to Jun at vincentvincent profile picture or calling 240-544-7230. If you're new and interested in hosting a table, please specify the language you're fluent in.
