Join us for an exciting in-person event at the World Languages Café!

The World Languages Café is the perfect place to practice a language you know or are learning. Immerse yourself in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, meet fellow language enthusiasts, and learn about different cultures. Enhance your fluency through conversation and listening, and even pick up useful phrases for your future travels or to reconnect with your childhood language.

Our World Language Cafés are held once a month throughout the year. Mark your calendars for our upcoming event, which will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the 50+ Center of the East Columbia Library (6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia).

Choose a language table that interests you and join the conversation facilitated by a native speaker. We offer a wide range of languages including American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese - Mandarin, Chinese - Cantonese, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Please note that children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. We encourage participants to bring food and beverages and share treats from their culture with their table.

For more information, to find out if there will be a native speaker of the language you are interested in practicing, to become a native speaker table host, or to join our World Languages Café email group, please contact Jun at vincentvincent profile picture.

If you are a Language Table Host, whether a native or fluent speaker, kindly inform us of your availability by emailing Jun at 240-544-7230. If you are new and would like to host a table, please specify the language you speak fluently.
