Hello everyone, I'm Miguel, a Doctor in Contemporary History and the organizer of this meet-up group.

I invite you all to join us for a guided tour dedicated to "RUTA 2: LA REPÚBLICA Y LA GUERRA CIVIL EN BARCELONA" (ROUTE 2: THE REPUBLIC AND THE CIVIL WAR IN BARCELONA).

This is the second of a trilogy of tours focusing on the social history of Barcelona in the 20th century. For those who already know me, you know that this is one of the topics I'm most passionate about, and I have published several articles and a book on this subject.

During this tour, I will share with you everything I have learned as we explore together the locations of the most exciting episodes of the history of the Second Republic and the Civil War.

Among other things, we will be amazed by the parallels with recent times, learning about what happened in the past when Catalonia declared itself a Republic (in 1931 and 1934) and seeing the reaction of the Spanish government.

We will get up close to the traces left by the social revolution of 1936 in Barcelona, as well as the scars that still remain in the city from the bombings during the war. And much more.
