Hello everyone, I'm Miguel, a Doctor in Contemporary History and the organizer of this meet-up group.

I invite you all to join us for a special event titled "RUTA 2: LA REPÚBLICA Y LA GUERRA CIVIL EN BARCELONA" (ROUTE 2: THE REPUBLIC AND THE CIVIL WAR IN BARCELONA).

This is the second of a trilogy of routes dedicated to the social history of Barcelona in the 20th century. Those who already know me, know that this is one of the topics I'm most passionate about, and I have published several articles and a book on this subject.

During this route, I will do my best to share everything I have learned as we explore together the most fascinating episodes of the history of the Second Republic and the Civil War.

Among other things, we will be surprised to discover the parallels with recent times, learning what happened in the past when Catalonia declared itself a Republic (in 1931 and 1934) and seeing the reaction of the Spanish government.

We will get to know up close the traces left by the social revolution of 1936 in Barcelona, as well as the scars that still remain in the city as a result of the bombings during the war. And much more.
