Hello everyone, I'm Miguel, a Doctor in Contemporary History and the organizer of this meet-up group.

On this occasion, I invite you to join us for a guided tour dedicated to the Second Republic and the Civil War in Barcelona.

This is the second of a trilogy of tours focusing on the social history of Barcelona in the 20th century. Those who already know me are aware that this is one of the topics that I am most passionate about, and I have published various articles and a book on this subject.

During this tour, I will try to convey everything I have learned as we explore together the locations where the most fascinating episodes of the Second Republic and the Civil War took place.

Among other things, we will be surprised by the parallels with recent times, learning about what happened in the past when Catalonia declared itself a Republic (in 1931 and 1934), and seeing the reaction of the Spanish government.

We will get to know up close the traces left by the social revolution of 1936 in Barcelona, as well as the scars that still remain in the city as a result of the bombings during the war. And much more.
