Join us for a comprehensive excursion that includes a guided tour of the charming town of Besalú, a brief stop in Castellfollit de la Roca to capture its beauty from the famous bridge, and plenty of free time to indulge in the breathtaking scenery of Banyoles Lake, the most stunning lake in Catalonia.

Summary and highlights of the excursion:
1- Guided tour of Besalú, one of the most picturesque towns in Catalonia
2- Stop to photograph Castellfollit de la Roca, one of the most photogenic villages in Catalonia
3- Free time to enjoy Banyoles Lake: swim at its beach, go boating, take a leisurely stroll along its shore, and more.

– Stop in Castellfollit de la Roca to photograph it from the bridge
Castellfollit's spectacular location offers a natural viewpoint overlooking the valleys of the Fluvià and Toronell rivers. The town is also the gateway to one of Catalonia's most important green spaces: the natural park of the volcanic area of La Garrotxa. Perched atop an immense basaltic cliff, the silhouette of Castellfollit village unfolds, with houses teetering on the edge of the precipice and the bell tower of the Sant Salvador church (13th century). This is one of the most captured and painted scenes in the country.

– Guided tour of Besalú
The town of Besalú, situated at an important historical crossroads in the east of La Garrotxa, was a fortress between two rivers: the Fluvià to the south and the Capellades to the north. For several centuries, Besalú was the seat of an important independent county and boasts a remarkable medieval historical-artistic ensemble, one of the best-preserved in Catalonia. This ensemble includes the ancient 12th-century monastery church of Sant Pere, the 12th-century church of Sant Vicenç, the facade of the former 12th-century hospital church of Sant Julià, the Romanesque monument of the Cornellà house from the 12th century, and the Gothic hall of the Royal Curia. The old Jewish quarter and its Miqvé or ritual bathhouse are also notable, being the only discovered Jewish bath complex in the Iberian Peninsula alongside the one in Girona. And let's not forget the majestic Romanesque bridge over the Fluvià river.

– Free time to dine and enjoy Banyoles Lake and its beach
After visiting Besalú, we will head to Banyoles, where you will have ample free time to have a picnic or dine at a restaurant and savor the beauty of the most stunning lake in Catalonia (with the exception of Lake Puigcerd). At the lake, there are plenty of activities to enjoy: swimming (there is a designated swimming area), boating, leisurely walks along the shore, or simply sitting on a bench and marveling at the majestic lake and its beautiful surroundings.
