Join us for an unforgettable experience at the magnificent Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario'.

Situated within the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is a designated World Heritage Site that serves as a winter haven for millions of monarch butterflies. Located approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City, this reserve stretches across pine-oak forests in Michoacán and Mexico State. Each year, from October to March, countless butterflies flock to this natural sanctuary, which spans over 56,000 hectares. The reserve’s mission goes beyond safeguarding the butterfly species; it also focuses on preserving their vital habitats.

Prepare for a scenic uphill trek that lasts about 1.5 hours. We will ascend gradually, allowing our bodies to acclimate to the altitude of 3000 meters while soaking in the breathtaking views of the forest and the vibrant Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer, horse rentals are available to assist with the journey.

To ensure we can arrange adequate transport for our group, please make your payment at least 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date.

The cost for this incredible experience is 1150 Mexican Pesos. This fee includes private transportation for the group, an experienced driver, a bilingual guide, and entrance to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

Pickup location will be at Angel de la Independencia.
