Join us for an unforgettable journey to the enchanting Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario'.

Designated as a World Heritage Site, the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is a vital habitat for millions of monarch butterflies that migrate annually. Nestled within the stunning Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, this unique reserve spans the pine-oak forests that straddle the borders of Michoacán and Mexico State, approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City. Each year, from October to March, countless butterflies fill the skies, occupying just a fraction of the 56,000 hectares of this protected area. The reserve is committed to safeguarding not only the butterflies but also their delicate ecosystem.

Our adventure involves a scenic uphill trek lasting about 1.5 hours. We will ascend gradually to acclimate to the altitude of 3000 meters, all while taking in the breathtaking views of the forest and the magnificent butterflies. For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, horse rentals are available.

To ensure we can accommodate everyone comfortably, please make your payment at least 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date. This will help us secure the appropriate transportation for our group.

The tour fee is 1150 Mexican Pesos, which covers private transportation, a skilled driver, a bilingual guide, and entrance to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

We will meet at the Angel de la Independencia for pick-up.
