In the 1470s, the Aztecs claimed this region and transformed it into a sacred sanctuary for their elite warriors, known as the Eagle and Jaguar warriors. This historical site, perched atop the Cerro de los Idolos (Hill of the Idols), was constructed over an ancient ceremonial ground. The highlight of this archaeological treasure is the Cuauhcalli, or House of Eagles, an awe-inspiring edifice carved directly into the mountainside.
