Join us for an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario'.

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve serves as a crucial overwintering habitat for millions of monarch butterflies. Nestled within the stunning Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, this sanctuary is located in the pine-oak forests along the borders of Michoacán and Mexico State, approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City. Each year, countless butterflies migrate to this enchanting reserve, which encompasses over 56,000 hectares, but they only occupy a small portion of it from October through March. The reserve is dedicated to preserving not only the butterfly species but also their vital habitat.

Our adventure includes a challenging uphill trek lasting about 1.5 hours. We will ascend gradually to acclimate to the altitude of 3000 meters while soaking in the stunning views of the forest and observing the magnificent Monarch butterflies. For those who prefer, horseback riding options are available!

To secure your spot, please make your payment at least 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date. This ensures we can arrange appropriate transportation for our group size.

The cost of the tour is 1250 Mexican Pesos, which covers private transportation for the group, a knowledgeable driver, a coordinator, and entry to the Butterfly Sanctuary.
