Join us for an unforgettable excursion to the breathtaking Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, known as 'El Rosario', a one-of-a-kind natural wonder!

The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as the wintering ground for millions of monarch butterflies. Nestled in the picturesque Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt’s pine-oak forests, this stunning reserve lies approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Mexico City, straddling the borders of Michoacán and Mexico State. Each year, countless butterflies migrate here, occupying merely a small segment of the expansive 56,000 hectares from October to March. The primary goal of the biosphere reserve is to safeguard both the butterfly species and their vital habitats.

Prepare for an invigorating uphill trek lasting about 1.5 hours. We will ascend gradually to acclimate to the elevation of 3000 meters while soaking in the incredible vistas of the forest and the mesmerizing Monarch Butterflies. For those who prefer a gentler approach, horseback riding options are available!

To ensure we can arrange adequate transportation for our group, please make your payment 5 to 7 days prior to the tour date.

The total cost for this experience is 1250 Mexican Pesos, which covers private transportation for the group, a seasoned driver, a tour coordinator, and your entrance fee to the Butterfly Sanctuary.

We will meet for pickup at Angel de la Independencia.
